Rose Red and Snow White live with their mother in a small cottage. One winter’s night, a bear asks for shelter. Soon, the bear is a welcome guest. When summer arrives, the bear goes away to guard a treasure from a wicked dwarf. The two girls come across the dwarf, his beard being stuck in a tree. Upon rescuing him, the girls continue to pull him from one predicament or another, even though the dwarf is ungrateful. Then they come across the dwarf and the bear together, the dwarf fearing for his life from the bear and asking it to eat the girls instead of him. The bear kills the dwarf and turns into a prince who had been under a spell by the dwarf by stealing his gold. The curse was broken with the death of the dwarf. Snow White marries the prince and Rose Red marries his brother.
